Congratulations to our Architect, Tom Mullinax April 2019
Tom Mullinax with Hospice Design Resource, a 37 year old architectural firm that specializes in the design of hospice homes, is the architect for Sojourn Center and has completed preliminary drawings for our New River Valley in-patient facility (see drawings below).
Congratulations to Tom for several accomplishments recently announced. Coastal Hospice in Ocean City, Maryland was featured in Metropolitan Magazine April 2019. Tom designed this facility for Becker Morgan, a firm he has associated with many times and for whom he is currently designing a hospital in Buckeye, WV with them.
Other exciting news from Tom is that the hospice house he designed with Bushey Fright of Hagerstown, MD was awarded 1st place in the 2018 Associated Builders Association Healthcare division. Doey’s House is a new $4.9 million inpatient, 12 bed facility in Washington County, Maryland. The Doey’s House website reads: “The construction consisted of all wood and was fit out with many amenities. The programming for the facility included a family room with vaulted ceilings, a small commercial kitchen, meditation room, offices, chapel and counseling rooms. The attributes stretched beyond the walls of the building, the site contains of a therapeutic garden, walking trails and extensive landscape. Exterior porches were constructed for each unit making this hospice feel more like home. Engraved pavers were also installed in three separate locations on site as a unique feature for this extraordinary project.”
