Vision/ Mission

Our Vision

Sojourn Center will create a community culture that honors, celebrates and lovingly supports the final passage of life.

Our Mission

The mission of Sojourn Center is to develop a non-profit community-based organization of healthcare professionals, educators, students and lay people dedicated to state-of-the-art compassionate care of terminally ill people and their families in a residential and associated educational center in the New River Valley of southwest Virginia. Sojourn Center is founded on the conviction that all people deserve access to end-of-life care that enhances dignity, comfort and quality of life.

Our Values

Our values are the foundation of our commitment to others and guide our everyday work:

  • Quality – achieving excellent pain and symptom management through continuous evaluation and evidenced-based therapies
  • Compassion – modeling a servant’s heart as a therapeutic tool
  • Spirituality – helping individuals, their loved ones, and caregivers find personal meaning and worth in life’s final journey
  • Education – offering training and mentoring for lay and professional caregivers
