Our Project
Sojourn Center will be the only terminal care residential facility within the service areas of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Lewis Gale Hospital at Montgomery and Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital. Residents and their families will be served by local hospice agencies and will receive the following Services at Sojourn Center:- A six to ten bed inpatient hospice facility for terminally ill individuals who cannot be cared for at home
- Private bedrooms will be roomy and feature large windows that enable views of the surrounding gardens
- Common areas will provide families and loved ones areas to dine, converse, and relax with others as well as areas to pray and meditate in private
- Specially trained, 24-hour on-site staff will provide bedside care
- Consultations with palliative care professionals will be available for residents with more challenging symptoms
- Alternative therapies such as music therapy, aroma therapy and massage therapy will be available for residents and their loved ones
- Residents’ loved ones will be welcomed and encouraged to participate in the care and support of the resident
- Spiritual support honoring each resident’s culture and religion will be integrated into care
